Doug Boles discusses Indy 500 Ticket Sales

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is aiming for a third consecutive sellout of the Indianapolis 500 as tickets for most of its major 2027 events go on sale Wednesday.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Indianapolis Motor Speedway and IndyCar President Doug Boles said during an interview on Daybreak.

“We’ll sell out the Indianapolis 500 again,” Boles said. “We’ve sold more tickets in renewal than we’ve done the last two years.”

The 111th running of the Indianapolis 500 is scheduled for May 30, 2027.

Fans who purchase tickets by Jan. 4 can save on fees, Boles said. Buying early also gives fans a better selection of seats before availability becomes more limited closer to race day.

“When you renew, you get the best deal, and then the second-best deal is right now until Jan. 4,” Boles said.

Tickets for two dirt track races are excluded from Wednesday’s sale.

Boles said the Speedway keeps its ticket office in-house to maintain personal connections with fans and give customers direct access to staff members who work at the venue.

“When everything gets outsourced to a big ticket company, which I understand, you lose that personal feel,” Boles said.

The Speedway welcomes about 350,000 people on Indianapolis 500 race day. Boles said the goal is to make fans feel connected to the venue and its traditions.

“What makes us special is it is individual, and we do care about the customer,” Boles said. “The customer has that belief that they own the Speedway, right? And that’s what we want them to feel like.”

The Speedway also continues to offer free general admission for children 15 and younger when accompanied by a general admission ticket holder. Fans can bring their own coolers, too.

“We’re trying to do everything we can to make it affordable for families,” Boles said.

Tickets will be available through the Indianapolis Motor Speedway website or by calling the Speedway ticket office beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
