After 20 years of helping animals in Philadelphia, PAWS is preparing to move into a new home.
On Monday, the animal rescue organization announced plans to build a new headquarters on Oregon Avenue in South Philadelphia, bringing its rescue, adoption, affordable veterinary care and Safety Net programs together under one roof.
The new 18,500 sq. ft. facility is expected to open in late 2027 and will replace PAWS’ existing locations in Grays Ferry and Old City.
According to the organization, the new headquarters will provide three times the space of its current facilities, which PAWS says it has outgrown as demand for its services continues to exceed capacity.
After a lengthy search, PAWS purchased the South Philadelphia property and spent years planning the new facility.
The headquarters will feature state-of-the-art housing and treatment areas for rescued cats, dogs and small animals, along with spacious examination rooms and modern surgical suites for affordable veterinary care.
The building will also include dedicated spaces for pet owners receiving assistance through PAWS’ Safety Net programs.
PAWS also released renderings of their new “forever home”:

While the new headquarters will consolidate several of its Philadelphia operations, PAWS said its Northeast Spay/Neuter and Wellness Clinic will remain open and continue serving the community.
To help fund its new headquarters, PAWS has launched a fundraising campaign to support the project.
